Larry Boschulte for Senate 2026
My name is Lawrence “Larry” Boschulte. I am running to be your next senator in the United States Virgin Islands’ (USVI’s) 37th Legislature (Senate 2026) representing the St. Thomas/St. John District.
I am homegrown with very deep generational ties to our territory. I grew up as one of two children of a single mom in the Solberg area. I was able to witness, first-hand, the value and benefit of hard work and giving back to the community. I attended All Saints School on the island of St. Thomas and earned my bachelor’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1991. While I have traveled to the United States on occasion, I have always returned home to contribute my knowledge to building a more positive community.
Eager to try to find a better way for changing the trajectory of the territory after hurricanes Marilyn and Hugo, I briefly left the territory in 1999. I expanded my knowledge of governance by participating in the Congressional Fellows program on Capitol Hill where I learned and advocated for environmental and cultural issues.
As one not taking the beauty of the Virgin Islands for granted; it has been devastating to see the increasing negative impact of climate change here in the territory. With both the air and ocean warming each year, the territory will encounter more severe rainstorms and hurricanes, rising sea levels, and a number of other threats to life as we know it. I worry specifically about the impact of climate change on our coral reef ecosystems, our tourism product, and our agricultural industry. I will advocate for our environment and champion causes that makes our community coveted by many around the world.
With one foot in the past, via my generational roots, and the other foot moving towards the future, my entrepreneurial spirit has shaped my belief in the importance of sustainable small businesses. I will vigorously apply my personal experiences as a businessman to keep the needs and challenges of small business upfront.
Lastly, my family roots are deep in the farming community, so I have a natural love for the environment and the land. Appreciating the importance of protecting and nurturing both; and how each will keep the territory strong and globally competitive for generations to come, I will fight on the senate floor every day to ensure the territory does not lose its focus on what supports us.
The environment, agriculture, and small business are important to drive economic growth and help the US Virgin Islands to become more self-sufficient. Let us work together to make the US Virgin Islands a better place for all of us.
